Japan 2001

Zao Onsen & Zao Mountain

Before breakfast we took a walk in the area near our ryokan. And after breakfast we took another walk about the town before catching the bus back to Yamagata to catch the train.

From our room window we could see this small lake. A short walk down to it revealed some nice views.

This is the lake seen through some trees along its edge.

The fall colors were nice to see along the trail.

Here is a small creek cascading down to the lake

From the window of our room we can see the lake in the upper left.

A walk into town took us over a bridge crossing over this small creek.

These steps lead to more hot spring ryokans and minshukus

Yoshiko and Steve are sitting in front of the public bath. For 200 yen we can soak in the hot mineral waters.
We will take the bus to
Yamagata where we will catch the train for a short ride to meet Tsukiko's friend, Kimura-san. -           pnext.gif
