Japan 2001

Katsunuma

Jerry Aso flew up from Fukuoka in Kyushu and we met him and his wife, Akemi, to go to Yamanashi prefecture to the town of Katsunum for wine tasting and hot springing.

A modern Buddhist temple can be seen from the train station where we met Jerry.

We took the local train to Katsunuma, a ride of about one hour. Yoshiko, Jerry and Akemi.

Yoshiko, Steve and Akemi.

In the winery there were hundrds of wines available for tasting. The grapes are different from the California varietals and the wines tasted different as well.

Some vineyards in the foreground, the train station is on the distant hillside..

We rode the 100 yen wine bus back to the train station.

We spent an hour soaking in the hot springs and then headed back to Fuchi-she for a farewell
