Masumoto

The first two nights of our trip to Nagano prefecture were spent in a small onsen minchuku (like a B&B with a natural hot spring.) This particular onsen was noted for the special evening meals they served. In addition to a traditional Japanese evening meal they offered both shabu-shabu and hand-made soba. (The Nagano area is famous for its delicious soba noodles.) Both the shabu-shabu and soba meals required advance ordering, but were "all you can eat."

Included here are some pictures taken at the onsen.

Here are the 3 of us, Steve, Takeko and Yoshiko having a cup of tea upon arrival at the onsen.

Yoshiko is waiting to begin the shabu-shabu meal for dinner. Can you believe, the three of us devoured three of those platters of beef along with a lot of the vegetables. I was stuffed.

While in Masumoto we enjoyed a visit to the castle. Here are a few photos of Masumoto castle.
