The American Southwest is one of the artist's favorite places, and in this
work, she depicts her impressions of Monument Valley in Arizona. As she notes,
the air there has a special quality and the colors are rich, clear and intense
— qualities that she has captured with particular skill. Notice the regal
stature of these mountains, the warm colors of the earth mixed with the dark
shadows cast by the moonlight, and the brilliant, starry sky overhead.
